Gimcheon Sangmu Sets Sights on Victory Against Incheon in Last Home Match Before the Break
Brand Day Held in Collaboration with the Daegu Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs
Gimcheon Sangmu FC will play their 13th round home match of the 'Hana Bank K League 1 2026' against Incheon United (hereafter Incheon) at Gimcheon Sports Complex on May 9.
Gimcheon Sangmu is determined to secure a victory in front of their home fans in their last home match before the break, aiming to head into the break on a positive note and regroup with renewed momentum.
Gimcheon Sangmu is looking to turn things around by hosting Incheon at home. The previous encounter between the two teams, which was held at Incheon's home ground, ended in disappointment for Gimcheon Sangmu. Despite a fierce back-and-forth, Gimcheon Sangmu suffered their first loss of the season with a 2-1 defeat. Although the team showed relentless pursuit and never gave up until the end, their efforts did not translate into points, leaving a clear challenge to address.
This time, the stage is different. In the last three home matches against Incheon at Gimcheon Sports Complex, Gimcheon Sangmu has recorded two wins and one draw, showcasing their strength at home. In the most recent home encounter in the 30th round of the 2024 season, Gimcheon Sangmu secured a memorable 2-0 victory.
Above all, this match carries significant meaning as it is the last home game before the league break. Gimcheon Sangmu is determined to erase past disappointments with a win in front of their home fans and to once again fill Gimcheon Sports Complex with the roar of victory. As this is a crucial match ahead of the mid-season, it is important for the team to achieve both a positive result and maintain their momentum.
Special events with meaningful significance will be held in and around the stadium. For this home match, Gimcheon Sangmu will hold a Brand Day in collaboration with the Daegu Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.
Various programs will be organized to honor the heroes who served the nation and to remember those who protected the Republic of Korea. First, a pre-match player escort will be held with a 6.25 War veteran and a young fan. This will be followed by a flower presentation ceremony to express respect and gratitude to the veterans. The ceremonial kick-off will feature Choi Hyunki, head of the Gimcheon branch of the 6.25 Veterans Association, Song Younghwan, chief of Gimcheon Fire Station, and Kim Jongsool, head of the Daegu Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.
There will also be performances to celebrate Brand Day. Before the match, the 2nd Operations Command military band will perform to liven up the stadium atmosphere, and during halftime, the 2nd Operations Command honor guard will put on a show.
The disciplined performances by the military band and honor guard will provide fans with additional entertainment. Outside the stadium, meaningful experience booths will be available. The Daegu Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs will run a PR booth featuring a quiz event.
Participants will receive goods featuring 'Bobo,' the mascot of the Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs. In addition, at the Ministry of National Defense Agency for KIA Recovery and Identification booth, photos and relics from 6.25 war casualties will be displayed, creating a space to remember the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country.
There will also be a moment to celebrate Lim Deokgeun. Lim Deokgeun reached a milestone by making his 100th K League appearance in the 12th round match against Ulsan. To commemorate this achievement, a video celebrating his 100 appearances will be shown immediately after the team enters the field, followed by a celebration ceremony.
Outside the stadium, there will be an event where fans can write congratulatory messages to Lim Deokgeun. After the match, Lim Deokgeun will personally read the messages of celebration and support written by the fans.
Two messages will be selected, with each winner receiving an autographed 2025 match-worn jersey and an autographed white ball, respectively. In this setting of victory, gratitude, and celebration, Gimcheon Sangmu aims to end the last home match before the break with a win, backed by the support of their home fans.
Meanwhile, the match will be available for viewing on ENA SPORTS and Coupang Play.
