HanmiGlobal Forms Strategic Alliance with Canadian Engineering Firm for Joint U.S. Nuclear Power Projects
Strategic Alliance Agreement Signed
HanmiGlobal, a global construction project management (PM) specialist, announced on May 11 that it has signed a Strategic Alliance Agreement (SAA) with AtkinsRéalis, a comprehensive engineering company based in Canada, to jointly pursue projects in the industrial plant, renewable energy, and nuclear power sectors in the United States.
Through this agreement, HanmiGlobal and AtkinsRéalis will collaborate across the entire project lifecycle—from project identification and proposal to winning contracts and execution. The scope of collaboration includes construction project management, design and engineering, design review, local permitting consulting, and environmental impact assessments. For each project, the two companies will designate a lead firm and participating companies to provide customized integrated construction engineering services tailored to the client’s needs.
The two companies will prioritize joint bids for large-scale energy projects in the United States, such as major production facility construction, nuclear power generation, and renewable energy complexes being promoted by Korean firms. Going forward, they plan to form a working-level consultative body to develop detailed cooperation plans for each project and maintain regular information exchanges.

According to last year’s survey by U.S. construction media outlet ENR, the company ranked first globally in the CM·PM category outside the United States. AtkinsRéalis operates more than 90 offices across 32 states in the U.S. and is currently engaged in numerous large-scale projects, including the “Energy Northwest” Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project and the Miami-Dade Waste-to-Energy Plant construction project.
HanmiGlobal has also built its capabilities in the U.S. market by acquiring OTAK, a U.S.-based design and engineering company, in 2011 and securing local talent. It has since managed a range of U.S. plant construction projects for Korean companies, including those for semiconductors, secondary batteries, and subsea cables.
