Illegally Filmed Women's Changing Room 6,300 Times... Taekwondo Studio Director Faces 10 Years in Prison
Some Illegally Recorded Videos Leaked Overseas
The director of a taekwondo studio in his 30s has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for installing and filming with an illegal camera in the women's changing room of his studio.
On May 12, during the final hearing at the Suwon District Court Criminal Division 13 (presided over by Senior Judge Jang Seokjun) regarding A's violation of the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Offenses (production of child sexual exploitation materials) and other charges, the prosecutor requested that the court impose the aforementioned prison sentence.
The prosecutor also requested a 10-year employment restriction in institutions related to children, juveniles, and people with disabilities.
A is accused of installing a miniature camera in the women's changing room of the taekwondo studio he operated in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, from March 2023 to November of last year, and illegally filming female students approximately 6,300 times.
The police investigation found that some of the illegally recorded videos by A had been leaked overseas. The police have since blocked access to the relevant online site.
It was reported that during the trial, A admitted to the charges and appealed for leniency.

The sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 28 at 2:00 p.m.
