President Lee Jaemyung to Meet U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng Tomorrow
President Lee Jaemyung will meet with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in succession on the 13th.
Kang Yujeong, Chief Presidential Spokesperson, announced to the press on this day, "President Lee will receive a courtesy visit from Secretary Bessent tomorrow (the 13th) and hold a meeting."
President Lee is expected to exchange views with Secretary Bessent on international affairs and major bilateral issues, including discussions on the upcoming U.S.-China summit. Topics likely to be discussed include tariffs, supply chains, the war in Iran, the North Korean nuclear issue, and the U.S. investment package currently being negotiated between South Korea and the United States.
Prior to meeting with Secretary Bessent, President Lee will also receive a courtesy visit from Vice Premier He. During the meeting with Vice Premier He, President Lee is expected to discuss major international issues, including matters related to the U.S.-China summit, as well as plans for peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Separately from the courtesy visits to President Lee, Secretary Bessent and Vice Premier He will hold high-level trade negotiations in Seoul on the 13th. This is intended for both sides to coordinate the agenda ahead of the U.S.-China summit scheduled for the 13th to 15th.
