Jeon Younghyun, Vice Chairman and CEO of Samsung Electronics and Head of the Device Solutions (DS) Division, who oversees the company's semiconductor business, has taken steps to strengthen internal solidarity and stabilize the organization following a tentative agreement in the labor-management wage negotiations.

View original imageOn May 21, Vice Chairman Jeon posted a message titled "Let's Move Forward Together as One Again" on the company bulletin board, stating, "Although there were differences of opinion during the negotiation process, we were able to confirm that our hearts are united for the good of the company." He emphasized, "What matters now is to leave the time of conflict behind and move forward with everyone joining forces as one." This move is seen as an effort to calm internal sentiment after the threat of the largest general strike in the company's history was resolved through a tentative agreement, and ahead of a union-wide vote scheduled to begin on May 22.
He also expressed gratitude to both employees and the labor union. Vice Chairman Jeon wrote, "The result was only possible thanks to the dedication of all employees who did their best at their respective posts without wavering, even during the long negotiation process." He added, "I fully acknowledge that there must have been a lot of concern and disappointment during the negotiations." He continued, "I sincerely thank the labor union and its members for their hard work in reaching a tentative agreement through dialogue and compromise, even under difficult circumstances." He concluded, "Taking this agreement as an opportunity, I will do my utmost with a greater sense of responsibility to strengthen our global competitiveness and achieve sustainable growth."
In particular, Vice Chairman Jeon encouraged participation in the vote on the tentative agreement to be held from May 22 to 27, saying, "I ask everyone to come together for the future of the company and all its members." As the outcome of the vote will serve as a key turning point for a final settlement, this appears to be part of an effort to stabilize internal sentiment.

Meanwhile, the "2026 Tentative Wage Agreement" between Samsung Electronics labor and management includes the introduction of a new "special management performance bonus" in the semiconductor division, funded by 10.5% of business performance, and raises the average wage by 6.2% by adding a base increase rate of 4.1% and a performance increase rate of 2.1%.
