Oh Se-hoon, the People Power Party candidate for Seoul mayor, has proposed a "GTX-A Single-Topic Debate" to Jung Won-oh, the Democratic Party candidate for Seoul mayor.

View original imageOn the 21st, Oh wrote on Facebook, "Now that even the president has stepped in and the government-led election campaign has started, Candidate Jung should stop hiding and come forward for a direct debate."
Earlier that morning, President Lee Jae-myung ordered an investigation into the omission of steel reinforcements uncovered during the construction of the Seoul Samseong Station section on the GTX-A line. Jung has consistently claimed that the issue of missing steel reinforcements on the GTX-A line is Oh's responsibility.
Oh stated, "As candidates for Seoul mayor, it is our duty to exchange opinions and arguments regarding the construction halt for the citizens who are waiting for the line to open," and added, "Let us debate what truly serves the best interests of the public."
Oh further emphasized, "Let us prove our competence through a dignified policy debate," and said, "If you want to become mayor of a world-class city like Seoul, you cannot act like a child hiding behind your parents."

Meanwhile, Assemblywoman Bae Hyun-jin, who serves as the chairperson of the People Power Party's Seoul Metropolitan Chapter, criticized on Facebook that day, saying, "The president, unable to stand by, has openly declared his intervention in the Seoul election on the very first day of the official campaign," and called it "Lee Jae-myung's attempt to save Private Jung Won-oh."
