Reform New Party Launches Election Committee in Dongtan... Lee Junseok: "We Will Be the Alternative Party for the Metropolitan Area"
"Highlighting Semiconductors and Residential Conditions as an Alternative Party"
Lee Junseok: "Welcoming the Samsung Electronics Labor Settlement
This Should Mark an Improvement in Conditions for Science and Engineering Professionals
The Reform New Party officially launched its Central Election Committee on the 21st in Dongtan, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, marking the start of its full-scale campaign in the Seoul metropolitan area. Lee Jun-seok, Chief Election Committee Chair, used the occasion of the labor agreement reached between Samsung Electronics and its labor union to present the development of the southern Gyeonggi semiconductor cluster and improvements in the treatment of science and engineering professionals as key agenda items. He declared, "The Reform New Party will become a definitive alternative force for voters in the metropolitan area."
On the same day, at an on-site Central Election Committee meeting held at the campaign office of Hwaseong mayoral candidate Jeon Seonggyun, Lee stated, "The agreement between Samsung Electronics management and labor is the result of both sides making certain concessions, leading to a negotiation with no losers." He added, "I hope that this will serve as an opportunity to further improve conditions for science and engineering professionals in Korea and to create better working environments."

He emphasized, "The Reform New Party is not interested in showy events, but will focus on systematically supporting and rapidly realizing the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster."
Lee also escalated criticism toward Yang Hyangja, the People Power Party's candidate for Gyeonggi Governor, who recently staged a hunger strike to urge progress in Samsung's labor negotiations. Through Facebook, Lee argued, "It seems that Candidate Yang was simply hoping that her name would be associated with the semiconductor issue," and criticized, "It remains unclear what the hunger strike was for and what prompted her to end it."
Lee further questioned Yang's political identity, stating, "Even while wearing a People Power Party jacket, she appeals for votes as if President Lee Jae-myung and policy chief Kim Yongbeom would also support her election," adding, "She is blurring which side she actually represents."
Lee also took aim at Choo Mi-ae, the Democratic Party's candidate for Gyeonggi Governor, remarking, "Even after touring the industrial complex, she skirted the key figures with words like 'there's no need to worry,'" and pointed out, "A candidate who doesn't know the number of industrial complexes makes promises about clusters that are as insubstantial as a hunger strike without justification."
