This evaluation comprehensively assessed local governments nationwide, focusing on improvement in environmental management, inspection rates, violation rates, and pollution inspection rates at facilities emitting environmental pollutants.
Last year, Kimcheon City conducted systematic guidance and inspections on 165 facilities emitting environmental pollutants within its jurisdiction. It also carried out 33 pollution inspections on facilities suspected of emissions, filed seven cases for serious violations of environmental laws, imposed 47 administrative dispositions, and levied fines totaling over 120 million won, demonstrating strict enforcement of the law.
In addition, for small-scale businesses and micro-enterprises, the city prioritized strengthening self-management by enhancing preventive education against pollution and providing technical support.
Im Changhyun, Head of the Department of Environmental Hygiene, stated, "It is very meaningful to have been recognized at the highest national level in environmental management for two consecutive years. We will continue to maintain a pleasant environment where residents can live with peace of mind through thorough supervision, inspections, and systematic management."
