Zonta District 32 Area 1 Conference: "Advocating Women's Rights and Presenting a Vision for Leadership Education"
Conference and General Meeting Held in Seoul on the 16th
The Korea branch (District 32, Area 1) of Zonta International, a global women's service organization, held a conference to share progress on last year's activities and discuss future directions for action.
Zonta International District 32 Area 1 announced on the 18th that it held the "2026 International Zonta District 32 Area 1 Conference and General Meeting" at the Grand Mercure Imperial Palace Seoul Gangnam on the 16th.

View original imageThe event was attended by over 100 participants, including members of clubs from Seoul and across the country, as well as guests. Attendees shared updates on last year’s activities and discussed Zonta’s vision and action plans, which have continuously supported and advocated for the rights and empowerment of women and girls, and promoted their participation in society.
Sunah Han, President of Area 1 and CEO of Urban Garden, stated in her opening address, "The world is currently facing many changes and challenges in politics, economics, and society. The values and mission of Zonta—built on caring for one another, solidarity, and a spirit of service for living together—are more important than ever as we work to create a better world for women and girls."
Choi Jin-young, publisher and CEO of Herald Media Group, emphasized in his congratulatory remarks, "For over 100 years, Zonta International has been a beacon of hope for women around the world. I am confident that this conference will serve as a new turning point, further strengthening the solidarity among Zonta members who have set the standard for women's leadership and have worked with intelligence and passion to care for neighbors in need throughout our society."
Nah Hyo-sook, Governor of Zonta International District 32, also encouraged participants, saying, "Let us pursue a new vision that can further expand Zonta’s mission of volunteer work, scholarship programs, advocacy for women's rights, and the promotion of education."
This conference included an opening ceremony, followed by a special lecture, reports on regional club activities, a financial report, and a general meeting. Notably, Lee Young-ja, a former Area 1 president and one of the initial members of District 32 (age 96), as well as Kim Kyung-oh, Honorary President of the Korea Aeronautical Association and Korea’s first female pilot and the first member of Zonta Korea, shared their life stories as Zonta members during congratulatory speeches and evaluations, earning enthusiastic applause from attendees.
Zonta International, founded in 1919 in Buffalo, New York, is a global women’s service organization comprised of professional women. It currently has 26,000 members in 64 countries. Zonta has supported various projects that offer new opportunities to vulnerable women and girls living in poverty and violence, such as global programs to end child marriage. The organization also runs educational support programs to help young women around the world grow into leaders in their fields based on professional knowledge and skills.

Zonta Korea, District 32, has contributed to the advancement of women’s rights and social development since its founding in 1966, through initiatives such as the prevention of violence against women and children, scholarship programs, support for vulnerable populations, and human rights advocacy.
