Naju City Steadily Prepares for 9th Nationwide Local Elections... Ensuring a Fair Election Environment
Voter List Review and Objection Filing Starts May 17
Absentee Voting Applications Accepted Simultaneously to Ensure Voters' Rights
Early Voting on May 29-30, Main Voting on June 3
Naju City in South Jeolla Province is concentrating its administrative resources to prepare for the 9th Nationwide Local Elections scheduled for June 3. The city has begun compiling the voter list and accepting applications for absentee voting, aiming to guarantee citizens’ precious right to vote and create a fair election environment.
According to Naju City on May 15, the task of compiling the voter list for the 9th Nationwide Local Elections is being carried out from May 12 to May 16. During the same period, applications for absentee voting are also being accepted.
Absentee voting is a system that allows voters who have significant physical disabilities or difficulties in mobility to cast their ballots by mail from their current location. To apply for absentee voting, voters can fill out an application form and submit it either in person or by mail at the administrative welfare center of their local town, township, or neighborhood, or apply online via the Government24 website.
Given the postal delivery time, it is recommended that mail applications be submitted at the post office by the day before the application deadline, which is May 15. Additionally, from May 17 to May 19, the compiled voter list can be reviewed at local administrative welfare centers and on the Naju City website, where objections or corrections may also be filed.
The final voter list, reflecting any objections or corrections, will be confirmed on May 22.
After that, each local election commission will announce the names and locations of polling stations by May 24. Early voting will take place over two days, from May 29 to May 30, and the main voting day will be June 3.
When voting, voters must bring identification that includes their date of birth and photograph, such as a resident registration card, passport, driver’s license, public official ID, national veterans ID, or disability welfare card. Mobile identification issued by an official agency is also accepted.
