16.5-Ton Truck Crashes Into Utility Pole and Catches Fire in Yangsan, Killing Man in His 50s

View original imageAt approximately 2:51 p.m. on May 14, a 16.5-ton wing-body truck traveling toward Hwajeri on a downhill, curved road in Eogok-dong, Yangsan City, Gyeongnam, collided with a guardrail and a utility pole.
As a result of the accident, the vehicle overturned off the road and caught fire. The driver, a man in his 50s identified as Mr. A, was unable to escape in time and died at the scene.
The fire was completely extinguished by fire authorities who responded to the scene at around 3:40 p.m. that day.
It has been reported that the truck was carrying calcium chloride at the time of the accident.
