Han Kyungho, Jinju Mayoral Candidate: "Jo Gyu-il Must Reveal the Truth to Citizens and Resign"
People Power Party's South Gyeongsang Provincial Party Files Complaint
"Committed to Clean Governance and Transparent City Administration"
Han Kyungho, the People Power Party candidate for mayor of Jinju City, insisted that Jo Gyu-il, the independent candidate, must "reveal the truth to the citizens and resign from the candidacy" regarding various suspicions surrounding him.
During a press conference held on May 13, candidate Han stated, "This Jinju mayoral election is not simply about choosing one mayor, but is an important election that will determine the future of Jinju City and the trust in its administration," emphasizing that "an administration repeatedly plagued by mistrust, favoritism, and corruption allegations must come to an end."

He argued that "this is not a simple political attack but a very serious matter, as even whistleblower reports from businesspeople and recorded audio files have been submitted."
He continued, "The recordings contain statements suggesting that money was demanded in connection with the supply of government-procured materials for the Jinju City aged water purification plant improvement project," and criticized that "if true, this constitutes a major criminal suspicion of attempting to use public projects for private gain and as a fundraising structure for political campaigns by leveraging political power."
He further asserted, "Even if candidate Jo did not directly intervene, as the then-mayor of Jinju City, he cannot evade political and administrative responsibility," stressing that "an administration that has lost the trust of the citizens is already a failed administration."
Han also claimed that Jo is currently under investigation for other allegations, including the improper payment of 13.5 billion won related to the KAI Rotorcraft Flight Center and manipulation of civil servant personnel records, urging, "He must immediately reveal the truth to the citizens and take political responsibility."
Regarding his own vision for city administration, Han stated, "Clean administration and transparent fiscal management are desperately needed," pledging to "disclose the process of large-scale projects and contracts to the citizens, and to establish an administration that fundamentally blocks favoritism, crony appointments, and suspicions of special privileges."
