Nam Yunyoung Appointed as Director of the National Center for Mental Health: "Strengthening the Central Role in National Mental Health"
The National Center for Mental Health announced on the 13th that Nam Yunyoung (pictured) has taken office as its new director. Her term will run until April 19, 2028.
The National Center for Mental Health was established by expanding and reorganizing the National Seoul Hospital. The center is responsible not only for mental health treatment, but also for mental health policy, education, and research functions.
Born in 1969, Director Nam graduated from Yonsei University College of Medicine and earned her Ph.D. in medicine from the same university. After starting her medical career at National Seoul Hospital, she oversaw the establishment of the National Center for Mental Health as head of planning and public relations at National Seoul Hospital in 2016, and has contributed to the center's history and growth by also serving as chief medical officer. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she was dispatched to the Central Accident Response Headquarters and worked on the front lines of social disaster response.

Director Nam stated, "I feel a great sense of responsibility and mission in being appointed director of the National Center for Mental Health, the central institution for national mental health," and added, "In line with the 3rd Basic Plan for Mental Health and Welfare, which has been in progress since this year, I will do my utmost to faithfully carry out the strategic roles assigned to the center."
