Gwangyang City to Revise Designation and Development Plan for Gubongsan Tourist Complex
Introduction of "Pet Park" to Meet Demand for Pet-Friendly Tourism
Adjustment of Accommodation and Golf Course, with Completion Targeted for 2028
Gwangyang City in South Jeolla Province announced that it will pursue the designation of the Gubongsan Tourist Complex as a tourism district and revise the development plan to enhance the project's competitiveness and respond to changing tourism demands.
On May 11, the city submitted an application for approval to designate the Gubongsan Tourist Complex as a tourism district and to revise its development plan to South Jeolla Province. This application was submitted by the project operator, LF Resort Co., Ltd.

To meet the increasing demand for pet-friendly travel, the city plans to newly establish a "Pet Park" covering approximately 14,000 square meters. The Pet Park will include glamping facilities and forest-style cabins where visitors can stay with their pets, thereby accommodating the needs of family tourists as well.
For accommodation, the city will reconfigure the composition of standalone, terrace, and tower-type condominiums, increasing the number of rooms from the current 220 to 226. The room structure will be reorganized to meet the needs of a variety of visitors, ranging from couples to families of four.
The golf course will be adjusted to reflect land conditions, such as preserving undeveloped land as natural green space. The city also plans to redesign the distance and difficulty of each hole to enhance operational completeness.
Additionally, the width of internal roads will be standardized to match the entrance road, with some routes adjusted. The locations of the management building and reservoir will be rearranged to improve operational efficiency and maintenance convenience. The city will also expand green spaces and enhance landscape elements, aiming to create an environmentally friendly tourist complex.
The project operator, LF Resort Co., Ltd., will continue with administrative procedures such as consultations with related agencies and various impact assessments. If the revised development plan is approved, the city will proceed with the necessary permits for construction, including approval for the development of an 18-hole golf course and building permits for accommodation facilities, as part of the first phase of the project.
If administrative procedures are completed as planned, construction is expected to begin around October this year, with the goal of completing the project by 2028. Additional facilities, including a 9-hole extension to the golf course, the Pet Park, and recreational and cultural facilities, will be developed sequentially, with the entire Gubongsan Tourist Complex scheduled for completion by 2032.
