This year's Cannes Film Festival has invited several Korean films, including "Hope" directed by Na Hongjin, "Colony" by Yeon Sangho, "Dora" by Jung Jury, and "Rhapsody of a Bird" by Choi Wonjung. Director Park Chanwook has also made history as the first Korean to serve as the jury president for the competition section.
"Dora" was selected last year for the Korean Film Production Support Project under the Korean Film Council's medium-sized budget program. The film was completed with approximately 600 million won in support. Previously, another film supported by this program, "My Name Is" directed by Chung Ji-young, advanced to the 76th Berlin International Film Festival.
During the Cannes Film Festival, the Korean Film Council will operate a promotional booth at Village International No. 125, providing publicity for invited films and a space for business meetings.
Until May 18, the "KO-PICK Showcase in Cannes" will be held, where five producers will participate in business matching, project pitching, and networking. The council will also host the "Korean Film Night" event to promote international exchange.
