Alois Posts Strong Q1 Results... Profitability Improves on OTT Growth and KoreaFile Acquisition
ALOIS, a company specializing in OTT set-top boxes, recorded results exceeding market expectations in the first quarter of this year, driven by growth in its core business and improved performance from its subsidiaries.
On May 12, ALOIS announced through its Q1 report that it achieved consolidated sales of 16.56 billion won and operating profit of 2.68 billion won. The company explained that, in particular, profitability in its main business segment—the OTT set-top box division—improved, resulting in a marked increase in standalone results.
The company emphasized that it managed to achieve stable improvement in its financials despite external factors such as global economic uncertainty, war, rising oil prices, and expanding trade barriers. In addition, even amidst a management dispute with certain major shareholders, the leadership’s crisis response capabilities led to a year-on-year increase in both sales and operating profit.
On a standalone basis, Q1 sales reached 8.58 billion won, with operating profit amounting to 1.87 billion won—both figures representing increases from the same period last year. The expansion of the global OTT market, combined with differentiated technological competitiveness and strategies for cost efficiency, contributed to these improved profit margins.
The growth in consolidated results was largely attributable to KoreaFile, which was acquired in the third quarter of last year. Since last year, ALOIS has reflected KoreaFile’s financial statements on a consolidated basis, and in the first quarter of this year, the results were fully incorporated. As a result, both consolidated sales and operating profit saw significant increases.
Notably, KoreaFile also maintained its own growth trajectory, further boosting consolidated earnings. Analysts noted that the combination of the stability of the existing set-top box business and the growth potential of KoreaFile is making the diversification of the business portfolio and improvement of the profit structure increasingly visible.
An ALOIS representative stated, “Standalone sales and operating profit in our core OTT set-top box business continued to grow steadily, demonstrating our business competitiveness. With the additional growth from KoreaFile, both our scale and profitability have strengthened, and we will focus on enhancing corporate value through an aggressive management strategy for the remainder of the year.”
