Over 200, Including Candidate Park Hyungjun, Gather for Press Conference

They argued, "The special prosecutor bill for prosecution cancellation proposed by the Democratic Party would enable the president to reduce their own criminal liability through a special prosecutor appointed by the president," adding, "This is a grave matter that undermines constitutional order and the judicial system."
Candidate Park stated, "This bill shakes the principle of state prosecution and the independence of the judiciary, and destroys the constitutional value of equality before the law." He went on to criticize, "President Lee Jaemyung, neglecting his constitutional duty to protect the Constitution, has revealed his intention to push the bill forward by speaking of timing adjustments rather than withdrawing it."
They also raised the issue of government and ruling party responsibility for the delay in processing the Busan Global Hub City Special Act.
Choi Jinbong, candidate for Jung-gu district head, said, "This is a bill needed for Busan to leap forward as a global city like Singapore and Hong Kong, but passive attitudes from the government and ruling party have stalled discussions in the National Assembly. It is hard to accept that a bill jointly proposed by both parties and signed by 1.6 million Busan citizens is blocked by a single objection from the president."

Kim Hyojeong, candidate for Busan Metropolitan Council, targeted Democratic Party candidate Jeon Jaesoo, also running for Mayor of Busan, stating, "As the main sponsor, he declared the bill would pass, but failed to deliver, which cannot be seen as a responsible attitude. While special acts for other regions have passed, only Busan's is delayed, and more proactive efforts are needed."
