Korea, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, and Italy Share One Stage at "Seoul World Sound Festival"
To Be Held at KBS Hall on May 8
The global concert "2026 Seoul World Sound Festival - Seoul! Journey Along the Silk Road," which brings together top-tier artists from Korea, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, and Italy, will take place at 7:30 p.m. on May 8, 2026, at the KBS Hall in Seoul.
This large-scale global concert will feature more than 100 participants, including leading musicians from the four countries, the Soreal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the YS Children's Choir. Just as the ancient Silk Road served as a bridge connecting the East and the West, the concert aims to create a stage for harmony among the four nations through music.
The overall artistic director is Jooeun Ahn, chairperson of C-JeS Foundation, who was appointed last month as the first foreign Mongolian Cultural Ambassador by the Mongolian government. Director Ahn is the first Korean woman to direct the opera "Aida" at the Ancient Theater of Taormina in Sicily, Italy, and has been consistently planning international cultural exchange performances connecting Korea, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, and Italy.
Director Ahn stated, "I wanted to create a moment where four voices, each having passed through different times and cultures, come together as one resonance on a single stage," and added, "It will be the one and only grand concert that transcends borders and language, connecting emotions."
The performers include sopranos Hyun Ae Cho and Seung A Shin, tenors Francesco Cipri and Heon Wook Yoo, baritone Moon Seok Choi, as well as traditional musicians from Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan. The artistic director is Nuccio Anselmo, and the conductor is Ki Woong Kim.
