Hwacheon County and the Korea Canoe Federation
Event to be held along the Bukhan River from May 8 to 10
Youth Canoe Sprint National Team Selection also scheduled
The 25th Hwacheon Paroho National Canoe Competition will be held for three days from May 8 to May 10 at the Hwacheon Lake Canoe Stadium on the Bukhan River.
This is the first nationwide water sports competition to be held this year in the Hwacheon area, which is known as the "Land of Water."
Prior to this, on May 7, the 2026 Canoe Sprint Youth National Team Selection was held at the same venue.
The Hwacheon Paroho National Canoe Competition is expected to attract a large number of participants, with 83 teams from the middle school, high school, and university/general divisions, and over 500 athletes and staff members.
Due to the nature of canoe competitions, many teams arriving from different regions have already set up training camps in Hwacheon County ahead of the competition in order to conduct pre-event training.
As a result, the local economy is experiencing a boost, and the region is seeing the benefits of sports marketing.
Hwacheon County is making thorough preparations to welcome guests over the four-day event, including establishing an emergency medical system, providing athlete convenience facilities, and installing and managing competition infrastructure.
Hwacheon County is considered an optimal site for water sports training camps, as the training venue on the Bukhan River is only a five-minute walk from the town center, making it easy for teams to move around, access accommodations, and find restaurants.
