Nine Former Gangseo District Council Members Declare Support for Jin Kyohun for District Chief
Assessment Includes Relaxation of Building Height Restrictions and CJ Site Development
On May 7, nine former Gangseo District council members from the Democratic Party of Korea visited the campaign office of Jin Kyohun, candidate for Gangseo District Chief, and declared their support. Many of them previously served as chairpersons for four or more terms.

View original imageThe nine individuals who joined the declaration of support are: former Chairman Lee Youngcheol (four terms), former Vice Chairman Kwak Pangoo (five terms), former Chairman Lee Yeongu (four terms), former Chairman Song Youngseop (four terms), former Operations Committee Chairman Shin Changuk (four terms), former Chairman Kwon Obok (two terms), former Council Member Do Chungnak (three terms), former Council Member Paek Jongwoo (first term), and former Council Member Choi Youngja (first term).
They evaluated that following his victory in the 2023 by-election, candidate Jin has led the Gangseo District administration based on his experience in public office. Projects promoted during his tenure include the relaxation of building height restrictions, an agreement to relocate the Banghwa-dong waste transfer station, approval for the development of the CJ site, and the designation of a planned public housing complex zone near the National Assembly Avenue.
In the statement, the former council members said, "With the development of Gangseo and the happiness of its residents in mind, we wish to express our support for candidate Jin Kyohun in the June 3 local election," adding, "He has laid the foundation for a balanced growth city where Magok and the original downtown can prosper together."

Candidate Jin Kyohun stated, "Receiving a declaration of support from senior figures who have led regional politics in Gangseo is both empowering and comes with a heavy sense of responsibility. I will do my best to honor the intentions of my seniors and work even harder for the future of Gangseo."
