Democratic Party Announces 'Sticking! Pledge' Nos. 20-22 for Local Elections... Addressing Medical Blind Spots
Nationwide Expansion of Public Postnatal Care Centers
Strengthened National Support for Type 2 Diabetes Patients
Enhanced School Responsibility-Based Medical Care for Safety Accidents
The Democratic Party of Korea has proposed the nationwide expansion of public postnatal care centers, strengthened national support for patients with type 2 diabetes, and school responsibility-based medical care as pledges for the June 3 nationwide local elections.
The Democratic Party’s Task Force for a Major Leap in the People's Livelihood Economy (headed by Kim Taenyeon) announced pledges No. 20 to 22 of the 'Sticking! Pledge Project' at the National Assembly on May 7.
Pledge No. 20 aims to recognize postnatal care as an essential care service for mothers and newborns, and to promote the nationwide expansion of public postnatal care centers. The party plans to gradually increase the number of public postnatal care centers, focusing on areas with declining populations and local governments without such facilities. In addition, they will establish regional public postnatal care centers that neighboring cities and counties can jointly use.
National support for patients with severe, pediatric, and adolescent type 2 diabetes will also be strengthened. Currently, only patients with type 1 diabetes receive 70% of the purchase cost for continuous glucose monitors (CGM), but the new pledge aims to extend this financial support to patients with type 2 diabetes as well.

The party also plans to implement 'school responsibility-based medical care,' which would expand medical compensation for school safety accidents to include non-reimbursed (non-covered) items. A pilot project will be launched for high-cost, high-dispute non-reimbursed items such as dental injuries, fractures, rehabilitation, MRI, and ultrasound, with a plan to gradually expand the scope of coverage.
