Integrating VIB Technology into AI PMDC

Ellis Group announced on May 7 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the 6th with Standard Energy, a battery specialist company, to jointly develop artificial intelligence (AI) modular data centers (PMDC) and vanadium ion battery (VIB)-based power solutions.

This agreement was pursued to simultaneously enhance power reliability, fire safety, and energy efficiency, which are key challenges in operating AI infrastructure. The two companies will jointly develop high-efficiency power infrastructure solutions by integrating Standard Energy's VIB technology into Ellis Group's AI modular data center, "Ellis AI PMDC."

The two companies will jointly develop modular uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and battery energy storage systems (BESS) optimized for the PMDC environment. In addition, they plan to advance their energy management system (EMS) by analyzing and predicting energy usage patterns using AI. Ellis Group will support the application of AI technologies based on PMDC operational data, while Standard Energy will be responsible for the stable supply of vanadium ion batteries and the standardization of related technologies.

Going forward, the two companies plan to target both the public and private data center markets together, including joint participation in government-led national AI data center (AIDC) construction projects, based on this cooperation model. They also intend to collaborate in expanding into overseas markets, including Japan.

Jaewon Kim, CEO of Ellis Group, stated, "By combining Ellis Group’s leading domestic AI modular data center technology capabilities with Standard Energy’s battery technology, we aim to achieve energy efficiency optimized for AI operations and establish a next-generation AI data center standard that provides a stable, high-performance computing environment while reducing location constraints."
