HD Hyundai Heavy Industries held a contract signing ceremony for the construction of an overseas icebreaking specialized vessel, marking the first time a Korean shipyard has won such an order.
On the 24th (local time), HD Hyundai Heavy Industries held a construction contract signing ceremony for one icebreaking specialized vessel at the National Maritime Museum in Stockholm, Sweden. On the 22nd, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries disclosed that it had won an order from the Swedish Maritime Administration for one icebreaking specialized vessel worth 348.9 million USD (514.8 billion won). Scheduled for delivery in 2029, the vessel will feature 'PC (Polar Class) 4' level icebreaking capability, enabling it to break through ice approximately 1 to 1.2 meters thick continuously.
