City Buses Run Along the Chinese Fringe Tree Flower Road
Jeonju City Adds 7 Buses Across 14 Routes During the Chinese Fringe Tree Festival
Easy Access to the Festival Venue From Anywhere in the City
Around this time every year, the railroad in Palbok-dong, Jeonju transforms into a completely different landscape. Clusters of white flowers bloom on every branch of the Chinese fringe tree, covering the entire path in white as if it had snowed heavily. This spring as well, people are heading to Palbok-dong, determined not to miss the short but dazzling peak of the season.
To make it easier for spring visitors to travel, the Jeonju City Government has adjusted city bus operations to encourage the use of public transportation.
On April 23, the Jeonju City Government announced a transportation management plan to enhance city bus operations during the '2026 Jeonju Chinese Fringe Tree Festival,' which will be held around the Palbok Art Factory from April 25 to 26 and May 1 to 3, for a total of five days.
Instead of increasing weekday service, Jeonju has concentrated additional buses on weekends and holidays when visitor traffic is highest. Seven extra buses have been added to five routes, allowing citizens visiting the festival to travel the flower-lined roads without long waits.
Bus routes serving the festival venue include a total of 14 lines: 101, 103-1, 103-2, 337, 383, 385, 401, 402, 403, 420, 644, 684, 1001, and 1002. Since these routes operate around bus stops near the Palbok Art Factory, the festival site is easily accessible from anywhere in the city.
Previously, in April, Jeonju City operated special routes along the Mangyeong Riverside during cherry blossom season, confirming the potential for seasonally tailored public transportation support. For this Chinese fringe tree festival as well, a more seamless and practical transit network will be provided.
The city plans to enhance bus destination displays and station announcement systems, and actively share transportation information through both online and offline channels. By encouraging people to choose public transportation over private vehicles, the city also aims to reduce traffic congestion around the event venue.
