MUTDANCE Presents Its 5th Creative Stage...Exploring Body, Time, and Existence
May 9 at Sogang University Mary Hall Grand Theater
The dance troupe MUTDANCE will present the 5th BE-MUT performance at the Mary Hall Grand Theater of Sogang University on May 9, 2026.
BE-MUT is MUTDANCE's signature creative project performance, which has been held continuously over the years. MUTDANCE transforms the results of its explorations in movement into stage productions through BE-MUT, thereby establishing the ensemble's unique artistic direction. Marking its fifth edition, this performance will feature works by two choreographers, Baek Soyoung and Yoon Sowon, each with distinct senses and creative languages, in a double bill format. The program is structured to highlight the individuality of each piece while also creating a unified flow.
“Zero Pause,” choreographed by Baek Soyoung, explores the sensations of movement based on the tension that arises between stillness and flow, delicately unraveling the continuity and transformation of the body.
“My Noon,” choreographed by Yoon Sowon, interprets and expands the concept of “noon” as the center of the day, expressing an individual’s inner world and sensations through movement.
Although the two pieces originate from different starting points, they converge in their shared inquiry into the body, time, and existence.
A representative from MUTDANCE stated, “The 5th BE-MUT performance is a stage that demonstrates how research-based creation expands into an actual performance, and it intensively embodies the company’s current creative trajectory. At the intersection of different choreographic perspectives, audiences will be able to experience new possibilities for contemporary dance.”
