View original imageAccording to Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other sources on the 22nd, Special Envoy Jeong conveyed the greetings of Foreign Minister Cho Hyun during his meeting with Minister Araghchi the previous day, emphasizing the importance of developing relations with Iran.
Special Envoy Jeong also welcomed the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, expressing hope for an end to the war and the establishment of peace and stability in the region.
Minister Araghchi stressed the importance of strengthening the relationship between Iran and South Korea and expressed Iran's readiness to cooperate in this field.
He also stated that the instability in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is caused by the military aggression of the United States and Israel. Minister Araghchi said, "We have taken measures in accordance with international and domestic law to protect Iran's security and national interests," adding that the responsibility for this situation lies with the United States and Israel.
Earlier, on the 9th, Minister Cho had a phone conversation with Minister Araghchi, during which he mentioned the need for the swift and safe resumption of free navigation for all vessels, including Korean ships, in the Strait of Hormuz. He also requested that special attention be given to the safety of Korean nationals in Iran.
