On April 23, he will visit Wando and Jindo, followed by Hampyeong, Yeongam, and Yeonggwang on April 24.
Through town hall meetings with local education communities, Lee plans to listen to firsthand voices from the field and incorporate them into his campaign pledge book, "Jeongseon Lee's Educational Promise."
Lee emphasized his commitment to establishing a "new standard" for education in Jeonnam and Gwangju, stating, "The answer to education lies not on the desk, but in the places where children truly breathe."
The tour is organized by grouping two to three regions together and will feature the sequential announcement of region-specific education pledges, including support for small schools in rural and fishing villages, nurturing prestigious high schools in the eastern region, establishing a smart Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Office of Education, and supporting specialized vocational high schools linked to local industries.
Lee stated, "Children in every part of Jeonnam and Gwangju deserve the best educational services," vowing to set a new standard for education in these regions by gathering the aspirations of local residents through this tour.
In Gangjin County, key issues discussed included the opening of Jeonnam Mirae International High School, visa issues for international students, and the "Curtain Call Project," a public-private-academic partnership for developing the unique characteristics of small schools.
Support measures such as overseas history and culture tours for second-year middle school students organized by Gangjin County Office, and financial assistance for third-year high school students preparing for career and college admissions, were also introduced.
In Jangheung County, educational issues mentioned included the slowing population decline, increase in jobs, and operation of overseas study programs. Gurye County was noted for its Jirisan-centered ecological and healing educational environment, as well as Gurye High School's designation as an autonomous public high school 2.0.
During the tour, Lee plans to gather vivid policy proposals from the field through town hall meetings with parents, regular teachers, and local education experts, and to present region-specific campaign pledges.
Key pledges include revitalizing small schools in rural and fishing areas, strengthening support for specialized vocational high schools linked to local industries, and establishing a smart Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Office of Education.
Lee emphasized his determination to extend the achievements and administrative experience gained during his tenure as Gwangju Superintendent of Education to the Jeonnam area, aiming to raise educational standards in both Jeonnam and Gwangju.
Through his extensive activities across both Gwangju and Jeonnam, Lee is expanding his support base by highlighting the vision of a "unified educational district" and "raising educational standards."
The opinions and suggestions made at the sites visited during this tour will be reflected in the campaign pledge book, "Jeongseon Lee's Educational Promise."
