Casper Electric Tops Small Electric Vehicle Segment, Surpassing BYD and Citroën
Auto Bild of Germany Ranks Casper Electric First in All Categories
Hyundai Motor Company announced on April 23 that the 'Casper Electric' took first place in all categories and won the overall title in a recent small electric vehicle comparison test conducted by the leading German automotive magazine Auto Bild.
The evaluation compared three major small electric vehicles in the European market: the Casper Electric, Citroën 'e-C3', and BYD's 'Dolphin Surf', scoring them across seven categories including body and convenience.
The Casper Electric ranked first in all seven categories, earning a total of 558 points, far outpacing the second-place Dolphin Surf (503 points) and third-place e-C3 (501 points). Auto Bild highlighted the Casper Electric's outstanding power consumption efficiency in the powertrain category as a key competitive advantage.
In real-world driving tests, the Casper Electric achieved an actual average energy efficiency of 6.71 km/kWh, which is about 20–30% higher than that of the e-C3 (5.49 km/kWh) and the Dolphin Surf (5.10 km/kWh). Based on these measured energy consumption figures, the actual driving range was also calculated at 308 km, significantly ahead of the e-C3 (241 km) and the Dolphin Surf (253 km).
The Casper Electric also demonstrated exceptional space efficiency, particularly excelling in the versatility assessment within the body category by scoring 8 points, a substantial margin over its competitors (2 points each). The inclusion of second-row sliding seats and a fully folding front passenger seat allows for flexible adjustments of the interior space according to passenger and cargo needs, leading to high marks in this area.
Additionally, the braking distance from 100 km/h to a full stop was 35.8 meters, up to 3 meters shorter than competing models. Combined with precise steering performance, the Casper Electric received the highest score in the driving performance category as well.
