Seongdong District Launches 'Seoul Mind Convenience Store' for Isolated Residents
Established Within the Single-Person Household Support Center
Open on Weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Seongdong District in Seoul has officially launched the 'Seoul Mind Convenience Store Seongdong Branch' to support residents experiencing isolation and loneliness. The 'Seoul Mind Convenience Store Seongdong Branch' is located within the Seongdong District Single-Person Household Support Center (31, Majang-ro 39-gil, 3rd floor). It is a space where residents at risk of isolation or seclusion can stay without burden, using convenience foods such as ramen as a medium, and naturally communicate with others.

Residents wishing to use the facility can check their condition through a self-diagnosis for isolation and loneliness. If necessary, they can receive in-depth counseling and be connected to customized services. The district explained that communication will be based not only on the provision of information but also on actual experiences, with empathy and comfort shared through consultations with those who have experienced isolation and the sharing of recovery stories.
The convenience store is divided into two zones: a 'social interaction space' for sharing warm meals with neighbors, and a 'recharging space' where individuals can quietly rest when feeling emotionally exhausted. It will serve as an 'open care shelter' for the local community.
Small-scale exchange and healing programs such as cooking, aroma therapy, and LP music appreciation will also be offered. These programs are designed to naturally help residents build social networks with their neighbors.
The facility operates on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with specialized programs held on Saturdays. After registering, users can freely access the space. For more information, residents can contact the Seongdong District Single-Person Household Support Center.
The district has designated three comprehensive social welfare centers as regional hubs dedicated to supporting households at risk of isolation or seclusion, facilitating early detection and community support. In addition, a 'Council for Prevention of Isolation,' consisting of 32 public and private organizations and 34 members, is currently active.
