Democratic Party Gyeongbuk Provincial Committee Recommends Three Sole Metropolitan Councilor Candidates: Chae Hanseong and Moon Changgyun for Gumi, Jeon Bonggeun for Gyeongsan
The Democratic Party Gyeongbuk Provincial Candidate Recommendation Committee (Chairman: Oh Ilyoung) has announced its decision to recommend single candidates for the following constituencies: Gumi City 4 and 7 and Gyeongsan City 1 for metropolitan councilor, and Gyeongju City A, Andong City Sa, Gimcheon City Sa, and Yeongju City Ra for basic councilor. The committee also stated that primaries will be held for Sangju City Da and Yeongju City Na constituencies.
At its 14th meeting held on the 19th, the Democratic Party Gyeongbuk Provincial Candidate Recommendation Committee recommended the following single candidates for metropolitan councilor: Chae Hanseong (currently Vice Chair of the Functional Committee at the Democratic Party Gyeongbuk Provincial Party) for Gumi City 4, Moon Changgyun (former Political Affairs Aide at Gumi City Hall) for Gumi City 7, and Jeon Bonggeun (currently Gyeongsan City Councilor of the Democratic Party) for Gyeongsan City 1. For basic councilor, the committee recommended Choi Gyuhak (currently Head of the Farmers and Fishermen Committee of the Democratic Party Gyeongju Regional Party) for Gyeongju City A, Kim Jeonglim (currently Andong City Councilor of the Democratic Party) for Andong City Sa, Lim Donggyu (currently Gimcheon City Councilor of the Democratic Party) for Gimcheon City Sa, and Jang Younghee (former Yeongju City Councilor of the Democratic Party) for Yeongju City Ra as single candidates.
Additionally, it was decided that a public primary will be held for Sangju City Da constituency between candidates Jeong Gilsoo (currently Sangju City Councilor of the Democratic Party) and Jeong Yongun (former Vice Chair of the Democratic Party Policy Committee), as well as for Yeongju City Na constituency between candidates Kim Gihun (former Professor of Health Administration at Gyeongbuk College of Science and Technology) and Choi Rakseon (former Secretary General of the Yeongju Citizens' Solidarity).
As of the 19th, six days before the candidate registration deadline on the 25th, the Gyeongbuk Provincial Party has recommended 11 candidates for metropolitan councilor, including Park Seongpil for Pohang 8, Kim Sangheon for Pohang 9, Kim Deukhwan for Gumi 6, Lee Jiyeon for Gumi 8, Cho Jungyeol for Yeongju 1, Park Sunghyun for Gimcheon 3, Lim Minhyeok for Yeongdeok, and Jeong Gwangju for Yecheon 2. For basic councilor, candidate Seong Donghyun (currently Advisor to the Democratic Peaceful Unification Advisory Council Sangju Chapter) for Sangju City Ba, Kim Sangseon (former Head of the Yeongyang-Yeongdeok-Uljin Regional Party) for Yeongyang County Ga, and Hwang Gwansik (former Director of Administrative Support, Gyeongsan City) for Gyeongsan City Da have each won their respective primaries, resulting in a total of 64 candidates being recommended.

Meanwhile, the Gyeongbuk Provincial Party Proportional Representation Candidate Committee has decided to conduct ARS ranking votes for party members on the 22nd and 23rd among male metropolitan councilor candidates (Seong Gisoo, Son Taesik, Lee Jeongtae, Jeong Yongchae), female basic councilor candidates in Gumi (An Seungwon, Oh Kyungsuk, Jeon Heejeong), and female candidates in Gyeongju (Jumi, Heo Jiyeon). In addition, the committee decided to hold ranking votes for female metropolitan councilor candidates (Kim Durae, Song Jinggi, Jang Eunju, Jeong Sookkyung), female basic councilor candidates in Andong City (Kwon Hyesook, Kim Eunkyung), and to recommend Kim Myeongjeong as the sole top candidate for Yeongju City.
