A police officer, known to be the real-life inspiration for Detective Ma Seok-do—a character played by actor Ma Dong-seok in the film "The Outlaws"—has been put on trial on charges of drunk driving.

View original imageAccording to legal sources on April 17, the Criminal Division 1 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (headed by Prosecutor Shin Do-uk) indicted Inspector A, formerly affiliated with Seoul Suseo Police Station, without detention on April 15 for drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act.
Inspector A is accused of causing a minor collision while driving under the influence near Gangnam Severance Hospital in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, at around 8:30 p.m. on November 24 last year. No casualties were reported as a result of the accident.
At the time, Inspector A’s blood alcohol concentration was reportedly 0.144 percent, which exceeds the license revocation threshold of 0.08 percent. Inspector A was suspended from duty after the drunk driving incident came to light.
