Busan Metropolitan City has newly designated four “Busan-style anchor companies” to lead the growth of the manufacturing sector.

On April 17, Busan Metropolitan City announced that it has selected JM Jeco Co., Ltd., BMT Co., Ltd., Halla IMS Co., Ltd., and Daeyang Electric Co., Ltd. as new participants in the “Busan-style Anchor Company Development Support Project,” aiming to strengthen the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry.

This selection is part of an ongoing initiative to improve the structure of the local manufacturing sector and secure global competitiveness. The selected companies were classified according to their stage of growth as pre-anchor, anchor, or top-tier anchor companies. The comprehensive evaluation considered not only sales volume, but also cooperative networks, job creation, technological impact, and global scalability.

The selected companies will receive certification for three years and up to 500 million won in project funding. They will be supported throughout the entire business cycle, from research and development to commercialization, including in-depth corporate analysis and consulting, R&D, patents, testing and certification, and overseas market development.

The city plans to promote mutual growth across the manufacturing sector by expanding a collaborative ecosystem between anchor companies and local small- and medium-sized enterprises. Through the “Manucon Project,” which will invest 11.7 billion won by 2029, Busan will also push forward manufacturing innovation based on artificial intelligence transformation (AX).

Previously, the results of support for the first and second cohorts of anchor companies included a 15.6% increase in sales, a 13.7% rise in employment, and the attraction of R&D projects worth approximately 38.6 billion won.

Mayor Park Hyung-joon stated, “The selected companies will play a central role in manufacturing innovation in Busan,” and added, “We will expand the AI-based manufacturing ecosystem and make Busan a hub for manufacturing innovation.”
