Fifteen groups, each voluntarily formed by middle-aged and older adults who have completed the center’s courses on life planning and work activities, will participate as instructors.
The program consists of three main themes: sharing of cultural and artistic talents, local community-based healing, and strengthening digital capabilities. In the cultural and artistic category, there will be nine classes, including autobiography writing, a four-week songwriting course, paper flower making, bucket hat making, and Makgeolli bread baking. Local community-based programs will feature four field-oriented classes, such as exploring the alleyways of Hongje-dong, visiting the Seodaemun Prison Independence Movement Historic Site, observing the ecology of Hongjecheon, and walking the forest trails of Baekryeonsan and Bukhansan.
In the digital field, there will be courses on an introduction to financial life in the AI era and smartphone video production using AI video tools such as Veo3. Any middle-aged or older adult who resides or is active in Seodaemun District may apply. A total of 150 participants will be recruited, with around 10 people per class, and there is no tuition fee (materials fees are separate). Each class will be held either once or four times, and applications can be made online after registering as a member on the Seodaemun 50 Plus Center website.
