Ansan City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Mingeun) announced on the 15th that on the previous day, April 14, Mayor Lee visited the construction sites of the "Ansan Community Complex Facility" and the "April 16 Life Safety Park (tentative name)", inspecting the progress of the projects, checking on-site safety management, and encouraging the workers.

View original imageOn that day, Mayor Lee, along with representatives from the construction company and the supervision team, personally examined both the interior and exterior of the construction sites, meticulously checking the finishing work and construction quality. He also requested that the facilities be completed to a high standard so that citizens can use them comfortably without inconvenience.
In addition, he closely reviewed safety measures against accidents that could arise from temperature changes during the thawing period, as well as compliance with on-site safety regulations. While communicating with site workers and appreciating their efforts, he repeatedly emphasized the importance of adhering to basic safety rules, such as wearing protective gear and keeping the site organized.
The "Ansan Community Complex Facility" is a community-focused public facility being built at 426-1 Gojan-dong, with a total project budget of 16.1 billion won. The facility will have one basement level, three above-ground floors, and a total floor area of 3,214.08 square meters. It is designed to help heal the pain and conflicts experienced by the families and the local community after the Sewol ferry disaster, serving as a multi-purpose space encompassing life, safety, and welfare functions. As a community space accessible to all generations from students to adults, it is expected to serve as a hub for communication and interaction within the region.
The "April 16 Life Safety Park (tentative name)" is being constructed at 667 Choji-dong, with a total project budget of 47.2 billion won. The facility will have one basement level, three above-ground floors, and a total floor area of 7,375.25 square meters. It will be a multifaceted facility that includes a memorial space, permanent and special exhibition halls, and a museum shop. The park is intended as a symbolic space to remember the meaning and lessons of the Sewol ferry disaster and to reaffirm the values of life and safety.
