19th-Century Heritage High Jewelry Brands Enter Korean Market with a Focus on Sustainability
French high jewelry brands Rouvenat and Vever will open their first stores in Korea at the Hotel Shilla Seoul on April 15, marking their entry into the domestic market.
The Arcade at Hotel Shilla Seoul has established itself as a prime location where global luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Kiton, Graff, Moynat, and Stephen Webster have launched their first Korean stores.
Recently, other high-end brands such as Canali, Speake-Marin, and Stefan Kudoke have also opened stores there, reinforcing the Arcade's role as a key entry point for luxury brands into the Korean market.
In the same context, Rouvenat and Vever, which are being introduced to Korea for the first time, have chosen Hotel Shilla Seoul as their initial base. Both brands grew within the flow of the 19th-century French luxury industry and, following their recent relaunch, have presented designs that incorporate sustainability as a core value.
Founded in 1849, Rouvenat garnered attention for its "open atelier" approach, which combined artistry and technical skill by making the production process public. The brand disappeared from the scene for a period, but was reborn as an eco-friendly high jewelry brand in 2022 after more than 3,000 original designs were discovered. Today, Rouvenat emphasizes sustainability by reimagining new creations using gemstones that have already been mined.
Vever, a brand that originated in France in 1821, is renowned as a jewelry house representing the Art Nouveau style. The brand has received multiple awards at major international exhibitions such as the Paris World Exposition, earning recognition for its artistry and craftsmanship. Since its relaunch in 2021, Vever has maintained traditional artisanal techniques while introducing products that integrate sustainable values.
