Eunpyeong District Leads Seoul in Red Cross Membership Fee Payment Rate for 19 Consecutive Years... 2.3 Times the City Average
Payment rate reaches 15.92%, far above Seoul's average of 6.95%
Residents who received support lead a voluntary "virtuous cycle of sharing"
Eunpyeong District in Seoul (District Mayor Kim Mikyung) ranked first among Seoul’s 25 autonomous districts in the 2026 Red Cross membership fee fundraising campaign. This marks the 19th consecutive year that Eunpyeong District has topped the list since 2008.

This figure is approximately 2.3 times higher than Seoul’s average of 6.95%. The total amount of Red Cross membership fees paid by residents reached 269,539,020 won. By administrative district, Bulgwang 1-dong recorded the highest payment rate at 31.81%, followed by Susaek-dong at 24.27%, Eungam 1-dong at 23.26%, and Eungam 3-dong at 22.59%.
It is noteworthy that the district has maintained this achievement for 19 years, despite having relatively low financial independence and a lack of large corporations or high-value donors. About 28% of Eunpyeong’s residents are registered as volunteers, and the district also ranked first among Seoul’s autonomous districts in the Hometown Love Donation Program in both 2023 and 2024, demonstrating that a culture of sharing is firmly rooted in the community.
The district attributes this year’s success to the Red Cross’s support during the 2025 flood in Eunpyeong. At that time, volunteers from the Eunpyeong District branch of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Association were dispatched for on-site recovery, and the Seoul branch of the Korean Red Cross also provided a mobile laundry vehicle and urgently delivered Onnuri gift certificates worth 21.5 million won. The district explained that residents remembered these efforts and voluntarily participated in fundraising, creating a virtuous cycle of sharing.
The funds raised this year will be used for domestic disaster relief, support for families in welfare blind spots, and public medical services for vulnerable groups.
