Volkswagen Launches Flagship SUV "Touareg Final Edition"
Production to End This Year, Marking the Finale of a 24-Year Journey
Over 1.2 Million Units Sold Worldwide, Starting at 106,421,000 Won
Volkswagen Korea announced on April 8 that it has begun delivering the "Touareg Final Edition," commemorating the final chapter of its flagship sport utility vehicle (SUV), the Touareg.
First launched in 2002, the Touareg has sold over 1.2 million units worldwide across three generations over 24 years. It has set numerous records in automotive history, including towing a Boeing 747 jumbo jet, winning the Dakar Rally—one of the world’s most famous off-road races—three consecutive times, and triumphing in autonomous driving challenges. These achievements have come to symbolize Volkswagen’s technological prowess and spirit of innovation. The Touareg Final Edition, introduced ahead of the end of production this year, is a special model marking the culmination of this 24-year legacy.
The words "Final Edition" have been laser-engraved on the window frame, and the same lettering is embossed on the leather gear lever inside the cabin. Additionally, illuminated door scuff plates and illuminated interior décor also feature the same lettering, emphasizing the model’s exclusivity.
The model is equipped with the "twin dosing technology" system, featuring two SCR catalytic converters and the EA897 evo3 V6 3.0 TDI engine, which delivers both powerful performance and efficiency. With the combination of a permanent four-wheel drive system and an 8-speed automatic transmission, it produces a maximum output of 286 PS and a peak torque of 61.2 kg.m across a broad range of 1,750 to 3,250 rpm, ensuring efficient and powerful driving in any road conditions. The official fuel efficiency rating is a combined 10.8 km/l (city 9.6 km/l, highway 12.8 km/l).
For the first time in the brand’s history, the advanced intelligent lighting system "IQ.Light HD Matrix Headlights" has been installed, providing optimal visibility to drivers through more than 38,000 interactive LEDs. Air suspension and all-wheel steering are standard across all trims, and the “roof load sensor,” integrated with the body control system, supports stable driving even on varying road surfaces.
Volkswagen’s state-of-the-art driver assistance system, "IQ.Drive," is standard on all trims. It includes the "Front Cross Traffic Assist," which detects cross-traffic situations and warns of or automatically brakes for hazards in the frontal blind spot. It also integrates cameras and sensors, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, and the "Travel Assist" active driving support system. In addition, the "Proactive Occupant Protection System" helps protect passengers by responding to accident risks in all situations.
The interior features the "Innovision Cockpit," which combines a 12-inch digital cockpit, a 15-inch infotainment system, and a head-up display for an intuitive user experience. The "Dynaudio Consequence" sound system is standard on all trims, along with premium comfort features such as 18-way ergo comfort front seats with heating, ventilation, massage, memory, and 4-way lumbar support functions, a 4-zone Climatronic automatic air conditioner, a panoramic sunroof, and soft door closing, all contributing to a convenient and pleasant environment.
