Police determined that the incident took place near the intersection of Moore Street and Humboldt Street in northern Brooklyn.
Video footage obtained by investigators shows two men on a motorcycle approaching the intersection. The suspect in the rear seat pulled out a gun and fired at least two shots.
At the scene, several adults, two strollers, and children were present. The 7-month-old baby riding in the stroller was shot, and the child's father rushed the baby to a nearby hospital, but the infant was ultimately pronounced dead.
Police identified 21-year-old Amari Green as a suspect and announced plans to arrest him on charges of murder and attempted murder. He is currently hospitalized after being taken into custody.
The other suspect who was riding on the motorcycle has also been identified, and police are currently searching for him.
In the video obtained by police, the motorcycle is seen heading north on Humboldt Street after the shooting, colliding with an oncoming vehicle about two blocks away. The impact threw both suspects onto the road, and it was reported that the rear passenger was thrown with such force that his shoes came off. Around 1:25 p.m., shortly after the crash, 911 calls were also received reporting injuries at the scene.
At least two shell casings were found at the scene. The motorcycle was later discovered abandoned about five blocks west of the crime scene.
Police believe this incident is gang-related and have determined that the deceased baby was not the intended target. However, the actual target of the shooting has not yet been identified.
