Uijeongbu Cultural Foundation announced on the 2nd that it is openly recruiting participating artists for "The City as a Theater, Nature as a Stage (Spring)" to support the creative activities of local artists and expand opportunities for citizens to enjoy culture in their daily lives.
View original imageThis initiative is part of the official cultural city project, designed to transform citizens' everyday spaces into stages so that anyone can naturally encounter the arts in daily life. It aims to provide local artists with open stages where they can perform directly for citizens, thereby broadening the base for creative activities and further invigorating the local arts and culture ecosystem.
Launched in 2024, this project has turned various locations throughout the city into cultural spaces, with participating artist groups spanning a wide range of genres, including jazz, Korean traditional music, classical music, magic, and performance art.
This year’s spring performances will be organized around content that families and people of all generations can enjoy together, coinciding with Family Month in May. The events will be held at the Uijeongbu Arts Center, Art Camp, and outdoor venues.
In particular, this year's project will be further enriched in connection with the 25th Uijeongbu Music Theatre Festival. Approximately 15 teams will be selected. Both individuals and groups active in the northern Gyeonggi region can apply, regardless of genre. Selected teams will receive performance support funding of around 2 million won, as well as stage equipment and other essentials necessary for performance operations.
