They toured the shipyard and warship construction site and received a briefing on the company's advanced warship technologies.
In December last year, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries merged with HD Hyundai Mipo to launch the Warship and Medium Vessel Division. The company has steadily strengthened its position as a global maritime defense contractor by exporting a total of 20 warships to date, including 12 frigates, patrol vessels, and offshore patrol vessels to the Philippine Navy, and 4 frigates, offshore patrol vessels, and landing ships to the Peruvian Navy.
This visit was organized as part of the Defense Intelligence Command's domestic security and defense industry cooperation program. Through tours of the shipyard and warship construction sites, the participants experienced HD Hyundai Heavy Industries' capabilities in the warship sector firsthand. In particular, the attachés showed great interest after directly inspecting the 8,200-ton class advanced Aegis destroyer Daehokimjongseoham under construction, a 3,000-ton class Coast Guard patrol vessel, a 2,400-ton class Philippine offshore patrol vessel, and a submarine undergoing overhaul. They paid special attention to the company's system integration capabilities covering not only design, construction, and maintenance, repair and operations (MRO), but also advanced technologies.
