Hwaseong Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Jung Myung-geun) announced on March 19 that, in celebration of the 26th Hwaseong Special Citizens’ Day, a delegation from Xiaogan City in Hubei Province, China visited the city on the same day. The delegation held an official meeting with Mayor Jung Myung-geun to discuss ways to expand exchange and cooperation between the two cities.

View original imageThis visit was a follow-up measure to establish a practical cooperative relationship, building on the letter of friendship signed between the two cities in February.
During the meeting, both sides affirmed filial piety culture as a shared value and agreed on the importance of cultural exchange based on this foundation. In particular, they reached a consensus to gradually expand cooperation for the succession of traditional culture and the spread of humanistic values.
Furthermore, the two cities agreed to concretize exchanges in various fields, including culture and tourism, and to establish a sustainable cooperation framework going forward.
The Xiaogan City delegation plans to attend the 26th Hwaseong Special Citizens’ Day commemorative event on March 20, where they will share Hwaseong’s development achievements and interact with local citizens.
In addition, the Hwaseong City Foundation for Culture and Tourism will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on promoting culture and tourism with Huan Tian State-owned Investment Group Hubei Xianle Tourism Development Co., Ltd. of Xiaogan City. The two sides plan to cooperate in a wide range of areas, including the development of tourism content, expanding the attraction of tourists, and operating cultural exchange programs. This agreement is expected to be facilitated by Chief Political Special Advisor Jang Minki, who played a bridging role.

Jung Myung-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong Special City, stated, "This visit by the Xiaogan City delegation served as an opportunity for both cities to reaffirm our shared cultural values and to further solidify the potential for cooperation," adding, "We will actively strive to ensure that exchanges centered on filial piety culture, including friendly exchanges between Dongtan-gu in Hwaseong and Yunmeng County in Xiaogan City, lead to practical and sustainable cooperation."
