Gyeonggi Fire Department Conducts 'Fire Prevention Safety Inspection' at Petroleum Storage and Handling Facilities
The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters has launched an emergency on-site safety inspection of petroleum storage and handling facilities, which are core national infrastructure, as uncertainty in the international energy supply grows due to recent instability in the Middle East.
This measure is a preventive action focused on preemptively blocking the possibility of accidents in response to the high-risk structure in which minor negligence can lead to large-scale fires or explosions, as seen in the past Goyang oil storage fire and the outdoor tank storage fire in Gyeongsan this past February.
On March 18, the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters visited Korea Oil Pipeline Corporation in Seongnam, and on March 19, it visited Korea National Oil Corporation in Pyeongtaek to inspect the safety management of major facilities and strongly called for enhanced, on-site preventive measures.

Choi Yongcheol, Acting Chief of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, emphasized, "Petroleum storage and handling facilities are particularly vulnerable to large-scale fires or explosions from even small mistakes, so it is crucial to ensure worker safety management, facility inspections, and immediate response capabilities. We will leave no gaps in protecting residents and key national facilities through on-site prevention and close cooperation with related agencies."
