On March 19, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held the second meeting of the "Summit Economic Event Performance Management Task Force" at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, chaired by Hyeon-gu Yeo, Director General for Trade Negotiations. The meeting was attended by representatives from the five major economic organizations—including the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of Korean Industries, and the Korea International Trade Association—as well as officials from KOTRA and related companies.
This task force is a public-private consultative body established to prepare and manage the business-to-business (B2B) cooperation outcomes derived from summit meetings. The meeting was convened for the first time in about three months since its inaugural session in December of last year.
During the meeting, participants discussed a "two-track" approach to more systematically gather business feedback for future summit economic and trade diplomacy. This involves conducting regular surveys through economic organizations and accepting submissions at all times via an online portal.
Economic organizations will survey their member companies quarterly, while the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to revamp the "Economic Diplomacy Utilization Portal" and launch a "Corporate Help Desk" within this month to collect feedback at any time. The government intends to incorporate the collected business challenges, cooperation needs, and trade barriers into the summit diplomacy agenda.
In addition, participants reviewed the implementation status of private sector cooperation outcomes derived from summit diplomacy earlier this year. They discussed the current progress and follow-up plans for a total of 42 B2B cooperation projects identified during the visit to China in January, the visit to the Philippines in March, and the visit of the President of Brazil to Korea in February.
