People Power Party Finalizes First Metropolitan Mayor Nominee
The People Power Party has nominated incumbent Mayor Choi Minho as its candidate for the June 3 local election for the Mayor of Sejong Special Self-Governing City.
The party's Nomination Management Committee announced on March 11 that it had unanimously decided to nominate Mayor Choi as the sole candidate for Sejong Mayor.
The committee stated, “Sejong is Korea’s administrative capital, a symbol of balanced national development, and a city that demonstrates the future direction of national governance. As the future of Sejong is directly linked to the future of Korea’s administrative capital, we have decided to begin our local election nominations in Sejong.”

The committee further commented on Mayor Choi, stating, “He is a prepared leader with extensive experience in administration and national affairs, and has led Sejong’s progress over the past four years.” The committee added, “We believe he is the most suitable candidate to stably advance the major goal of balanced national development. We have full confidence in Mayor Choi, who has no disqualifications, for the completion of Sejong City and the future of Korea’s administrative capital.”
