The Bio-Fermentation Expo China is the world's largest exhibition featuring products and technologies related to the bio-fermentation industry. Companies from a wide range of fields—including food, beverage, bio-manufacturing, bio-agriculture, and biotechnology—take part in the event.
This year marks the first time Samyang Corporation is participating in the exhibition. Noting the growing importance of high-purity refinement technology for amino acids and organic acids in the food and bio industries, the company plans to introduce its premium monodisperse ion exchange resin products necessary for these processes.
Ion exchange resin is a synthetic resin in the form of beads with a diameter of approximately 0.3 to 1 mm, serving as a filter that adsorbs or removes specific substances by utilizing surface charges. In particular, monodisperse ion exchange resin, which has uniform particle size and structure, offers superior separation performance and reproducibility, making it an essential material in advanced industries such as semiconductors, displays, and nuclear power. In Korea, Samyang Corporation is the first and only company to produce it.
At this exhibition, Samyang Corporation is focusing on presenting the 'TRLITE MCK Series', a monodisperse ion exchange resin designed for chromatography separation processes.
Chromatography is a process that separates specific components over time based on the varying degrees to which different substances in a liquid adhere to the resin. This process requires the highest level of precision and technical expertise, especially in the fermentation of amino acids and organic acids.
Samyang Corporation's chromatography ion exchange resin is designed with a uniformity coefficient of 1.05 or less, enabling high separation efficiency. The closer the uniformity coefficient is to 1, the more uniform the particle structure; typically, a coefficient of 1.1 or less qualifies as monodisperse ion exchange resin. Samyang Corporation's products offer even higher separation efficiency, and are also characterized by superior strength and long lifespan.
Cho Youngdo, Head of WS PU at Samyang Corporation, said, "To strengthen our brand awareness and expand our sales channels, we are participating in the Bio-Fermentation Expo China for the first time this year. Going forward, we will actively collaborate with professional process engineering companies to participate in new facility and replacement project bids, and expand sales of chromatography ion exchange resins."

Meanwhile, Samyang Corporation contributed to the localization of precision materials in Korea by becoming the first domestic producer of ion exchange resins through a technology partnership with a Japanese company in 1976. Since then, it has led the premium ion exchange resin market by developing ultra-pure water ion exchange resins in 2011 and completing Samyang Fine Technology, Asia's largest dedicated monodisperse ion exchange resin plant, in 2016.
