Realmeter Poll Results

President Lee Jaemyung's approval rating for his administration has rebounded, remaining in the high 50% range. In some tallies, it even reached 60%.
According to a regular public opinion poll released by Realmeter on March 9 (commissioned by Energy Economy News, conducted from March 3 to 6 among 2,004 adults aged 18 and older nationwide via wireless phone ARS, with a margin of error of ±2.0 percentage points at a 95% confidence level and a response rate of 4.7%), President Lee's approval rating for state affairs rose by 1.1 percentage points from the previous week to 58.2%. This marks a rebound in his approval within just one week. The disapproval rating fell by 1.1 percentage points to 37.1%.
Looking at the daily survey results, President Lee's approval rating reached 60.0% on March 4. However, by the end of the week, on March 6, the approval rating stood at 56.6%.
The most significant increases in President Lee’s approval rating were seen in Gwangju and Jeolla (up 6.3 percentage points from 79.8% to 86.1%), Seoul (up 4.9 percentage points from 49.9% to 54.8%), and among those in their 30s (up 5.3 percentage points from 47.5% to 52.8%).
Realmeter explained, "Although the won-dollar exchange rate broke through 1,500 won and the KOSPI faced a crash crisis due to U.S.-Israel and Iran airstrikes, support for the president rose as his response was perceived positively for crisis management. This included his directive to introduce a 100 trillion won stock market stabilization program and consideration of capping oil prices to focus on people's livelihoods."
In a party support survey (commissioned by Energy Economy News and conducted from March 5 to 6 among 1,001 adults aged 18 and older nationwide via wireless phone ARS, with a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level and a response rate of 4%), the approval rating for the Democratic Party of Korea rose by 1.0 percentage point to 48.1%, while support for the People Power Party fell by 1.4 percentage points to 32.4%. Realmeter explained, "The Democratic Party appears to have consolidated its base and seen an increase in support as it has led key state tasks such as passing the three judicial reform bills and implementing government stabilization measures amid the economic crisis." In contrast, regarding the People Power Party, Realmeter commented, "Its approval rating appears to have declined due to increasingly negative perceptions that, at a time when the party’s headquarters were raided and factional conflicts between the leadership and pro-Han faction intensified, the party is focused more on political strife, such as judicial obstruction protests outside the Assembly, rather than addressing livelihood issues." Support rates for the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, Reform Party, and Progressive Party were 2.8%, 2.6%, and 1.3%, respectively.
