'17-Year Industry Veteran' Park Gaeon Appointed Deputy Executive Director of Busan International Film Festival

The Busan International Film Festival announced on March 9 that it has appointed Chief Programmer Park Ga-eon as the new Deputy Executive Director.
Born in 1975, Deputy Executive Director Park graduated from the Department of Aesthetics at Seoul National University. She worked in the Chairman's Office at CJ Corp. and the marketing team at CJ Entertainment before joining the festival in 2009. Over the past 17 years, she has overseen a variety of practical roles—from starting in the publicity team to serving as Head of Invitations, World Programmer, and Head of Programming—managing overall work such as event planning and guest invitations.
The festival stated that, by placing Deputy Executive Director Park, who possesses extensive field experience, at the forefront, it aims to coordinate internal and external issues and streamline communication within the organization. The goal is to strengthen the working capabilities of the secretariat and solidify the festival’s operational system in a changing environment.

Under the new leadership of Deputy Executive Director Park, the 31st Busan International Film Festival will be held for ten days from October 6 to October 15, 2026, in the area surrounding the Busan Cinema Center.
