There are currently 46 park golf courses in the province, marking an approximately 70% increase from 27 courses in 2022. This is the fourth highest number nationwide. In Chuncheon City, there are currently two park golf courses in operation.
The number of park golf club members has also increased significantly. Within the province, membership rose from 7,159 in 2022 to 20,236 in 2025, about a threefold increase. During the same period, the number of members in Chuncheon City grew steeply from 702 to 3,696.
On this day, Governor Kim Jintae met with park golf enthusiasts and association representatives to hear their opinions directly at the site.
Governor Kim stated, "The popularity of park golf is so high that the number of participants has tripled in three years, making it clear that there is a need for sufficient facility supply." He added, "The province plans to invest 56 billion won to expand an additional 26 park golf courses." He also noted, "Of these, two new courses will be developed in Chuncheon."
Regarding this, association representatives suggested the establishment of a provincial park golf course to attract educational programs and tournaments, and also expressed the need for a reservation system and additional courses due to the high number of users.
In response, Governor Kim said, "The province is promoting the development of park golf courses by utilizing the special exceptions for rural revitalization zones under the Gangwon Special Act," and added, "Based on the opinions from the field, we will actively review these proposals together."
