The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education's "Jeonnam Gwangju Education Administration Integration Promotion Team" and the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education's "Gwangju Jeonnam Education Administration Integration Practical Preparation Team" held their first consultation meeting at the Gwangju Office of Education on March 5, marking the official start of efforts for a successful integration.
Both parties reaffirmed the fundamental principle that Jeonnam and Gwangju would pursue the integration of educational administration while maintaining mutual respect and equality. In particular, they agreed to prioritize stable administrative services over speed to prevent any disruption at the field level, ensuring that students, parents, and staff experience no inconvenience.

The participants discussed in depth the basic direction of educational administration integration, mutual cooperation measures, and detailed schedules to ensure a stable transition.
Kim Chigon, head of the Gwangju Education Office's Practical Preparation Team, stated, "As this is the nation's first metropolitan educational administration integration, we will devote all our resources to ensure it becomes a successful model, opening a new horizon for educational autonomy in Korea. We will meticulously plan and prepare so that positive changes can be felt in the educational field."
Yoon Yangil, head of the Jeonnam Integration Promotion Team, commented, "The core of this integration is not just merging organizations, but ensuring that educational activities in schools and administrative services for the public continue without interruption. We will closely review standards and procedures to prevent any decline in community services or gaps in support during the integration process."
