Ahn Cheolsoo: "707 Special Mission Battalion Must Be Restored as the Vanguard of Decapitation Operations Against Kim Jong-un"
"707 Collapsed After the December 3 Martial Law"
"After Iran, North Korea Is Next... We Must Prepare"
With the sudden airstrike ordered by U.S. President Trump resulting in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei, Ahn Cheolsoo, a member of the People Power Party, argued that South Korea must restore the 707 Special Mission Battalion, which is responsible for conducting decapitation operations directly within the country.
On the 4th, Assemblyman Ahn commented that Iran's 37-year dictatorship had collapsed, stating, "Now, the United States is engaging in international politics by leveraging its military power, as seen in the attempted annexation of Greenland, the capture of Maduro, and the killing of the drug lord El Mencho."
He added, "The North Korea policy is also not exempt from this trend. If the Iran issue is resolved, North Korea will be next. Therefore, there is a possibility not just of nominal denuclearization, but of physically replacing the Kim Jong-un leadership." He pointed out, "However, the unit tasked with carrying out a Decapitation Strike directly in South Korea—the 707 Special Mission Battalion—is in a state of disarray."
He explained that this was because, during the 12·3 martial law, a misjudgment by the person in charge led to the unit being deployed not to North Korea, but to the National Assembly, resulting in the breakdown of organizational structure and morale. He said, "Since that day, the number of voluntary discharges and leaves has reached a recent high, and the commander at the time continues to damage the pride of the unit members. When the decapitation unit was established in 2017 and joint ROK-U.S. training to eliminate the North Korean war leadership took place, Kim Jong-un reduced his public activities out of fear and became obsessed with hiring overseas intelligence operatives to obtain related information. Even now, we must remove the stigma of martial law from the 707 Special Mission Battalion."

He concluded, "We must restore the status of the 707 Special Mission Battalion as South Korea's elite unit capable of swiftly removing the North Korean leadership and carrying out the most dangerous and difficult missions in times of crisis. Once the 707 Special Mission Battalion is fully combat-ready, we will have a military option to put pressure on North Korea. Only then will we be able to seize the initiative to open channels for military pressure or dialogue. Security is not maintained by slogans. It is only established when the military is given its proper role and possesses the real capability to pressure hostile nations at any time," he emphasized.
